A noun is the name of a person, place, animal or thing. Read the story, find the nouns, and sort them. Then sort common and proper nouns.

Meera and her grandfather went to the market. They saw a cow, a goat and many parrots. Grandfather bought mangoes, a basket and a new umbrella. Then they walked to the temple and the park. A farmer gave Meera a flower. At home, her mother made dosa, and the cat slept on the mat.

💡 Common and proper nouns
- A common noun is a general name: river, teacher, city.
- A proper noun is a special name and starts with a capital letter: Kaveri, Mrs Rao, Mysuru.
